Summary

  • God's promise to Israel: He would one day restore them to the land. At that time, the ecological devastation that occurred during their judgment would be reversed.

Details and/or Comments

  • Isaiah 32:13 makes reference to God's judgment of the nation, which would result in "thorns and briers" (and various other ecological changes).
  • CONTEXT: This passage comes after a call to repentance - verse 6-7:
Isa 55:6-7 Seek Yahweh while he may be found; call you on him while he is near: let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to Yahweh, and he will have mercy on him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
  • The next chapter (Isaiah 56:1-2) focuses on the moral obligations of those who want to have a part in this salvation/blessing.
