Scripture Pages that Link to Here

Job 22:15-18

They were destroyed prematurely... because they rejected God.

Job 34:10-30

God destroys and replaces the wicked, because they ignored him, and afflicted the poor.

Psalm 37 (selected verses)

The future of the wicked shall be cut off. (a recurring theme in this passage)
Psa 37:2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither like the green herb.

Psalm 104:1-35

Psa 104:35 Let sinners be consumed out of the earth. Let the wicked be no more.
It is only fitting that everything contrary to the glory, greatness and goodness of God and creation be removed from it!
Unless the Word of God influences our thinking, we may find it difficult to understand why the wicked need judged. We may even fail to realize that "the wicked" includes all who have not bowed in submission to the God who created all things, who alone deserves our utmost praise, adoration and worship - who's name is Yahweh!

Psalm 106:1-48

Because of Israel's ongoing wickedness, God had to send nations to judge them for what they had done.

Psalm 139:1-24

A desire for the destruction of the wicked. It was David's greatest desire for God to be honored - something that all people should desire.
Note that the passage doesn't say, "I'm going to kill them for you." Judgment is left in God's hands; it's not something that individuals take upon themselves to accomplish.
These are unrepentant wicked people who reject God. They hate him and take his name in vain!
(It would be more desirable that they repent and cease being God's enemies; but these people are unwilling to do so.)

Psalm 146:1-10

... the way of the wicked he (God) turns upside down.

Psalm 147:1-20

Psa 147:6 Yahweh upholds the humble. He brings the wicked down to the ground.

Isaiah 26:19-21

Isa 26:21 For, behold, Yahweh comes forth out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity. The earth also will disclose her blood, and will no longer cover her slain.
Right now, the blood/bodies of the slain are "hidden" in the earth. On the Day of Judgment (or from the perspective of the murdered, the Day of Justice, it will no longer be so; those who are guilty of murder will be punished. (A general statement about judgment for iniquity is also given.)

Isaiah 51:19-23

Judgment - soon to be taken from them (Israel) and given to their enemies (Babylon).
