- Deu 6:4 Hear, Israel: Yahweh is our God; Yahweh is one:
- Deu 6:14-15 You shall not go after other gods, ... for Yahweh your God in the midst of you is a jealous God. (This would cause the anger of Yahweh your God be kindled against you, that he might destroy you from off the face of the earth.)
- Yahweh your God - he is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness with them who love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations, and repays those who hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him who hates him, he will repay him to his face.
- This is similar to what God says about himself, in the Second Commandment.
- He is holy; he is our refuge and salvation; he is our judge.
