Summary

  • The highest of heavens cannot contain God.

Details and/or Comments

  • This is because heaven is a created place, made for "heavenly creatures," such as angels - just like the earth was made for "earthly creatures." Scripture never describes heaven as being uncreated. That's a view that comes out of pagan mythology.

Scripture Passage #1 Scripture Passage #2 Comments and Links
1Ki 8:27 But will God in very deed dwell on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens can't contain you; how much less this house that I have built! 2Ch 6:18 But will God indeed dwell with men on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens can't contain you; how much less this house which I have built! Though it could not contain him, God chose to dwell in the temple in a special way that was different from his presence in other places - 1 Kings 8:10-13.
