- Solomon told the people that he would pray to Yahweh, to send thunder and rain to punish the people, because of their wickedness. 1Sa 12:18 "So Samuel called to Yahweh; and Yahweh sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared Yahweh and Samuel."
- Samuel would continue to pray for them and teach them, so that they would know "the good and the right way".
1 Kings 8:35-40 & 2 Chronicles 6:26-31
- The way out of affliction: It starts with prayer that involves confession and repentance. (When God judges the land/people.)
1 Kings 9:1-9 & 2 Chronicles 7:12-22
- If God sends drought/locusts/pestilence and the people humble themselves/pray/repent, God will forgive and heal the land.
- God hates religious activities, when they become meaningless rituals, and do not reflect the attitudes of the heart.
- Isa 1:15 When you spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you. Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood [injustice, evil, etc.].
