The first of the "Two Greatest Commands" - the other being "Love for Neighbor." All the moral obligations given to humans can be summarized by these two commands. For example:

  • In the Creation Mandate, the obligation that points most clearly to "Love for God" has to do with our need to "set apart one day in seven as special." (The other obligations have implications related to "Love for God," but are more directly related to "Love for Neighbor.")
  • In the Ten Commandments, the first four commands point most clearly to "Love for God," although the other commands have implications that would relate to that focus. (To some degree, all the commands are interrelated.)

Micah 6:6-8

(The third of these obligations falls into this category.) Mic 6:8 He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?
