Psalm 135:1-21

Psa 135:15-18 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they can't speak. They have eyes, but they can't see. They have ears, but they can't hear; neither is there any breath in their mouths. Those who make them will be like them; yes, everyone who trusts in them.

Isaiah 2:19-22

People will hide in caves/caverns "from before the terror of Yahweh, and from the glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake the earth mightily." They will abandon their idols.

Isaiah 31:1-9

Isa 31:6-7 - Return to him from whom you have deeply revolted, children of Israel. For in that day everyone shall cast away his idols of silver and his idols of gold--sin which your own hands have made for you.
Therefore, repent! This present command to return to God is connected with the future reality that they will abandon their idols (see Isaiah 30:22). In other words, do it now; don't wait for the future!

Isaiah 46:5-13

Isa 46:6-7 - Some pour out gold from the bag, and weigh silver in the balance. They hire a goldsmith, and he makes it a god. They fall down--yes, they worship. They bear it on the shoulder, they carry it, and set it in its place, and it stands, from its place it shall not move: yes, one may cry to it, yet it can not answer, nor save him out of his trouble.
A contrast between the true God (v. 5; also v. 8+) and the false gods (v. 6-7). The foolishness of trusting in powerless idols that are one's own invention!
