Genesis 2:4-25

Gen 2:9 ... the tree of life was in the middle of the garden

Genesis 3:1-24

Expelled from the garden, lest they eat from this tree: Driven like cattle, chased out of the garden. This was an act of kindness; it was for their good. If they had eaten from this tree, they (and their offspring) would have lived forever in the condition of death - and incapable of changing - and this has many horrible implications (especially considering that "death" involves much more than just what happens to the body). Even "salvation unto life" would have been impossible, since Jesus would have been unable to die for our sins!

We will see this tree again, in eternity (Revelation 22).
