See also: Possessions. The two concepts are related; but we are defining "possessions" as the broader category (all that a person may own), and "riches" as the narrower category, focusing on items we normally associate with wealth: gold, silver, treasures, etc.

In an some cultures, riches may be defined in terms of numbers flocks and herds, or some other way. So this distinction is mainly an arbitrary one, based more on the way we tend to view them.
