Another possible title for this page: "Reversal of Fortunes." (The reason it probably wasn't originally chosen is because people so often use the word "fortune" to refer to something like "luck" or "blind chance.")


THE PRIMARY FOCUS IS ON CHANGES THAT OCCUR IN THIS PRESENT LIFE. Obviously, at the Day of Justice, there will be many additional "reversals of circumstances"!

1 Samuel 1:2-10

The Lord exalts the lowly and lowers the exalted. (Many "typical" examples given.)


Job 1 & 2

In the space of a few minutes, Job lost everything he had. Satan did this, but it was with God's permission. Later, Satan would also afflict Job with a serious skin disease. (God would use all this to accomplish good in Job's life.)


Psalm 107:1-43

Psa 107:40-41 He pours contempt on princes, and causes them to wander in a trackless waste. Yet he lifts the needy out of their affliction, and increases their families like a flock.


Psalm 146:1-10

Psa 146:7-9 who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. Yahweh frees the prisoners. Yahweh opens the eyes of the blind. Yahweh raises up those who are bowed down. Yahweh loves the righteous. Yahweh preserves the foreigners. He upholds the fatherless and widow, but the way of the wicked he turns upside down.


Psalm 147:1-20

He builds us up and heals us - Psa 147:2-3 Yahweh builds up Jerusalem. He gathers together the outcasts of Israel. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.


Isaiah 25:1-12

Isa 25:4 For you have been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat.
God has exalted and given protection to those who were once oppressed by the oppressors. God is a refuge for the poor and needy.
