Omniscience

Three concepts that tend to be confused
- Omniscience - God is all knowing.
- Omnipresence - God is in all places.
- Omnipotence - God is all powerful.

God interacts with humans on two levels - 1) on the level of Creator, and 2) on our level (such as through Jesus Christ, etc. It is on the level of Creator that attributes such as omniscience have the greatest role.
- There are verses that show instances in which Jesus was surprised or where he learned something (as he grew up).
- However, there are also verses (such as in Genesis 3), in which God asks something for the people's sake, rather than for the need of gaining information.

- God alone knows the hearts of the children of men; and can render to every man according to all his ways.
- When judging, God sees all; nothing is hid from his sight. So there is no need for further investigation!

- Psa 33:13-15 Yahweh looks from heaven. He sees all the sons of men. From the place of his habitation he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth, he who fashions all of their hearts; and he considers all of their works.
- (A description of his omniscience.) You know the totality of me – what I do, what I think, where I am, etc. – even before it happens!
- Psa 147:4-5 He counts the number of the stars. He calls them all by their names. Great is our Lord, and mighty in power. His understanding is infinite.
- One of God's attributes that makes the future Day of Judgment possible.
- Isa 46:10 - [I am God] ... declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done; saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure; ...
