  • NOTE: The account of Jericho can probably be included here.

Joshua 10:8-14

Use of human activity: God sent confusion, by means of Israel's surprise attack.
Use of nature: Then he attacked the enemy with hailstones.
Use of a miraculous display of power: Then he stopped the sun and moon, until Israel had won the battle.

Joshua 11:4-9

He used Israel's surprise attack.

1 Samuel 7:7-11

God used loud, unexpected thunder to confuse the attacking Philistine army, thus allowing Israel (unprepared for war) to easily defeat them.

2 Samuel 5:22-25 & 1 Chronicles 14:13-16

David was to approach the Philistine army near the "mulberry" or "balsam" trees (translations vary... this word is not found elsewhere).
God would cause "the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees," which would indicate that he "has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines." At that point, David's army was to attack, and victory would be theirs.
The audible sound, which corresponded to God's "going out before them," could have been caused by wind rustling through the leaves. Most likely, it would have covered-up any sound made by David's army; so his attack on them would be a total surprise.

2 Kings 3:6-27

He providentially led the Moabites into an ambush, and commanded Israel (and its allies) to destroy them. He provided pools of water, which they mistook for blood (since it was a dry, arid land, and it hadn't rained at any time in the recent past); so they walked into the ambush unprepared for battle.

Psalm 33:1-22

Not through people's trust in military strength! God delivers them... as demonstrated by Israel, many times in its history. (They demonstrated both the wisdom of trusting God, as well as the folly of not doing so - at different times in their history.)

Isaiah 30:1-33

This may include God's use of weather to judge the people.
Isa 30:30 Yahweh will cause his glorious voice to be heard, and will show the descent of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and the flame of a devouring fire, with a blast, storm, and hailstones.

1 Samuel 14:1-23

God did what he promised – to fight for them – by providentially causing an earthquake. The results were be panic, confusion and death among the Philistines.
