Scripture Pages that Link to Here

Genesis 3:1-24

God questions Adam and Eve. God already knew what they had done; the questioning was so they would understand.

Genesis 4:1-26

God warns Cain that sin is lurking, waiting for him. (Asking Cain "WHY" his demeanor has changed is not because God didn't know why! It was an opportunity for Cain to know why!)
God asks Cain where Abel is, even though he knew. "The voice of your brother's blood cries to me from the ground." (v. 10).
When Cain complains about his punishment, God grants one of his implied requests.

Exodus 3:16-22

God tells Moses to talk to the Israelite leaders and to the king of Egypt. He tells Moses in advance how each group will respond.
Compare the description of Pharaoh's response to descriptions of it in later passages: The king of Egypt won't listen. Here, his refusal is described in terms of human choices. (The king will choose to not let them go.) In a later chapter, God will describe it in terms of God's sovereignty. (God will say, "I will harden his heart." See Exodus 7:3 for an example.)
God will punish with wondrous acts of power; you (Israel) will leave with their (Egypt's) blessings/riches.

Exodus 20:1-21

God speaks directly to the people, with a background of thunder, lightning, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking (thick darkness).
Because the people were terrified, "The people stayed at a distance, and Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was" (after the giving of the 10 commandments).

Numbers 22:21-35

The Angel of Yahweh appears to Balaam, but his donkey can see him before Balaam can. Balaam's lack of awareness does not mean the Angel isn't there!
