Dishonest weights and balances are used for cheating and defrauding other people.

Honest weights and balances are a reflection of God's character; so he utterly detests it when they are dishonest.

Lev 19:35 " 'You shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in measures of length, of weight, or of quantity.


Deuteronomy 25:13-16

YOU MUST NOT HAVE: Varying weights and measures, so that you can defraud others to your own advantage. / YOU MUST HAVE: Accurate weights and measures.
WHY? 1) Long life in the land; and 2) God detests all who do such dishonest things.


Proverbs 11:1

Pro 11:1 A false balance is an abomination to Yahweh, but accurate weights are his delight.


Proverbs 16:11

Pro 16:11 Honest balances and scales are Yahweh's; all the weights in the bag are his work.


Proverbs 20:10

Pro 20:10 Differing weights and differing measures, both of them alike are an abomination to Yahweh.


Proverbs 20:23

Pro 20:23 Yahweh detests differing weights, and dishonest scales are not pleasing.


Micah 6:10-11

Context: A description of the sins of Israel. The items mentioned here are related to economics - specifically, the wicked means by which they obtained their "treasures." This included dishonest measures (ephah = a dry measure of approx. 6 gallons), scales and weights - all intended for cheating the customer.
