2 Kings 6:1-7, 14-23

2Ki 6:17 - ... Yahweh opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire around Elisha.

  • Note also: 2Ki 2:11 - Elisha saw a chariot of fire and horses of fire. They separated him from Elijah, who went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

Psalm 8:1-9

Psa 8:5 For you have made him a little lower than God [OR: heavenly beings], and crowned him with glory and honor.
Heavenly beings have the glory of standing in God's very presence. Humans, who are made of the dust of the earth, do not have this. Yet God has chosen to give us a glory and honor that exceeds all else in creation (as described in the verses that follow).

Psalm 104:1-35

V. 4 - The wind and lightning ("fire") - elements of a thunderstorm - are described as heavenly messengers. Hebrews 1:7 connects this verse with "angels" - a word that also means "messengers." (However, this passage is not intended as an explanation about when heavenly creatures, such as angels, were created.)

Psalm 148:1-14

Psa 148:2 Praise him, all his angels! Praise him, all his army!
