You must not speak falsely to another.
- We must neither lie nor withhold truth that others have a legitimate right to. We must promote truthfulness and faithfulness in all we do.
- As with the other commands, this command represents an entire "category" of attitudes and actions.

- No slander or false testimony. / No yielding to peer pressure. / No favoritism, for or against the poor. / Do not participate in false judging, or allow yourself to be influenced in that direction.
- Also the attitude of kindness toward foreigners and enemies - an attitude which will influence your ability to have justice toward them!
Leviticus 19 (selected verses)
- Lev 19:11 - ... neither shall you deal falsely, nor lie to one another. / Lev 19:15 - You shall do no injustice in judgment: you shall not be partial to the poor, nor show favoritism to the great; but you shall judge your neighbor in righteousness.
- The need to keep any promise that a person voluntarily makes to God. To not keep it is to sin.
- Dishonest weights and measures are a violation of the Eighth Commandment and Ninth Commandment.
