- 1Sa 12:22 "Yahweh will not forsake his people for his great name's sake, because it has pleased Yahweh to make you a people to himself" (in spite of their sins). And neither would Samuel (who would continue to pray and teach them).
- Psa 37:28-29 For Yahweh loves justice, and doesn't forsake his saints. They are preserved forever, ... The righteous shall inherit the land, and live in it forever.
- Since God's nature and character ("name") do not change, he would do exactly as he promised, centuries before, to Abraham. (This is why he wouldn't totally destroy Israel.)
