Frustration. You just can't seem to win! It's like trying to go up on a downward escalator that matches or exceeds the speed of your own efforts.

Genesis 3:1-24

Adam's sin resulted in physical changes that affected all of creation. Because of the expression of hope (given in verse 15), the blessings of creation were not totally removed and utterly destroyed. Instead, they became subjected to a condition that is described elsewhere in the Bible as an ongoing state of "frustration." Now, the fate of creation is inseparably linked to the fate of the humans. But just as it suffers because of the humans, it will also be wonderfully restored (and more) when the "new" race of humans - the people of God - are revealed - Romans 8:19-22. (See also Ecclesiastes.)

Ecclesiastes 1:1-18

Ecc 1:13-15 I applied my heart to seek and to search out by wisdom concerning all that is done under the sky. It is a heavy burden that God has given to the sons of men to be afflicted with. I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and behold, all is vanity and a chasing after wind. That which is crooked can't be made straight; and that which is lacking can't be counted.
