Genesis 6:1-8

v. 1-2 - God's sons saw that men's daughters were beautiful, and they took for themselves wives of all that they chose. What was happening: Breakdown of the family. Intermarriage between the godly and ungodly; worldwide apostasy.
v. 4 - Nephilim (tyrants) ruling the earth.
v. 5 - Total and constant wickedness. (This is God's evaluation. It does not mean that the people recognized themselves as evil. Evil people - then and now - normally don't.)
v. 6-7 - Results: The situation grieves God. Conditions have gotten so bad that he must destroy the earth.


Genesis 6:9-22

Gen 6:11-13 - A morally corrupt, violence-filled earth.
