Genesis 1:1 - 2:3

Gen 2:2 On the seventh day God finished his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Gen 2:3 God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work which he had created and made.


Exodus 23:10-12

Don't overwork; do provide rest and refreshment. - Applies to treatment of land, animals, workers, others.
For land: 1 year rest in 7. / For people and animals: 1 day rest in 7.


Leviticus 25:1-55

Sabbath rest for land every 7th year. (Also: Jubilee every 50th year.)


Leviticus 26:1-45

One of the results of disobedience - God will remove them from the land, so that the land will get its sabbath rests. (Compare with v. 2, "You shall keep my Sabbaths...")

2Ch 36:20-21 - ... they were servants to him [Nebuchadnezzar] and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia: to fulfill the word of Yahweh by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed its Sabbaths: for as long as it lay desolate it kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years.

Compare to:

Lev 26:34-35 - Then the land will enjoy its sabbaths as long as it lies desolate and you are in your enemies' land. Even then the land will rest and enjoy its sabbaths. As long as it lies desolate it shall have rest, even the rest which it didn't have in your sabbaths, when you lived on it.
