Modern-day definitions of "miracles" tend to be a distortion of what Scripture portrays them as.

Miracles are properly defined as "works of power." Though they can be "supernatural" (going beyond, or violating, natural laws), they do not always have to. Many of the great "works of power" that have been done by God involve God's providential arrangement of circumstances and laws of nature in ways that are totally unexpected and not normal.

It is important to realize that the presence of miracles is not proof that something is from the True God. Counterfeit miracles have been done, and will be done again (2 Thessalonians 2:9).

The rod turned into a snake, etc. / The magicians could also do it, though their rods (snakes) were eaten by Aaron's.

Exodus 16:1-36

God provides quail and manna. (The method of providing the quail is not stated. In other instances, he blew them in by a strong wind.)

Exodus 17:1-7

No water... the people complain. / God tells Moses to strike a rock with his rod, and water comes out of it. (Issue: The people are testing God.)

Alluded to in the notes. It is more likely that the events in this passage could be described as an act of Providence - which is just as much a display of God's power.
