This is not the same as withholding information from those who have no right to it - by either being silent, or by mentioning other facts (but not the one that should be withheld).


Half-Truth

  • If deliberate, truth is being withheld in order to lead someone into sin. (Example - the serpent's words to Eve.)
  • If inadvertent (accidental), it's a matter of being led astray because of not having the emphasis that God gives to an issue. (Many false teachings start this way, emphasizing one truth and neglecting another that goes with it.)

Example: The snake's claim that Adam and Eve wouldn't die if they ate the fruit, but that they would become like God, was half true.
