God gives us the command to not become unequally yoked with unbelievers. He does so, not out of cruelty or meanness to us, but to spare us from the horrible consequences of such a situation. But there is a difference between: 1) claiming to be saved and then choosing to be unequally yoked, and 2) becoming saved after the yoke has been formed.
