Psalm 104:1-35

In a world influenced by human sin, death must be a part of the life cycle. ... Yet even in this matter, the final outcome reflects God's goodness and blessings. When Jesus Christ returns and purifies the world at the Day of Justice, this cycle will cease.

Ecclesiastes 1:1-18

Life itself; all nature around us (three examples given). Ecc 1:4-7 One generation goes, and another generation comes; but the earth remains forever. The sun also rises, and the sun goes down, and hurries to its place where it rises. The wind goes toward the south, and turns around to the north. It turns around continually as it goes, and the wind returns again to its courses. All the rivers run into the sea, yet the sea is not full. To the place where the rivers flow, there they flow again.
Human accomplishments and endeavors. Ecc 1:9 That which has been is that which shall be; and that which has been done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-22

Ecc 3:1 For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven: (A list of 14 cycles follows).
In this present world, there is pattern and design. This includes the various items in this section (14 pairs) that seem to go in cycles. These are "facts of life," whether or not we want them to happen. Some of them occur simply because of the nature of creation; others because of the presence (and effects) of sin in the world. (This list of "cycles" would have been somewhat different, if sin had not entered the world. But because of the effects of sin, various aspects related to the "burden" of life are now present.)
If nothing else, these things should teach us that we are not in control! There is a time "allotted" for everything. (God's sovereignty is implied, though not directly stated, in these verses. But direct statements are made in some of the following verses.)

Ecclesiastes 9:7 - 10:1

Things that can disrupt life (#1): Time and chance. "Time" refers to the types of things described in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. "Chance" could also be translated as "occurrences." Ecclesiastes 9:2 reminds us that such things occur to both the righteous and the wicked.
