The main emphasis here is on praise by "non-humans."

Humans are also required to praise God. (To not do so is to sin.) A few of the passages emphasizing the praise that humans are to give can be found on this page: Worship.

See also: All Creation Glorifies God (a related issue).

Scripture also tells us that all creation groans because of the effects of sin - Romans 8:18-25.

A concept to consider (and to develop) - how do elements of creation demonstrate (unconsciously) a "fear" of God?

Scripture Pages that Link to Here

1 Chronicles 16:30-34

All creation is to praise God, each aspect responding in the way it was created to respond. And it is to do so because of God's justice and love - aspects of his rule over all things.
This passage mentions heaven and earth; seas, fields and forests (and their inhabitants).

Job 38:1-38

Job 38:7 - [The earth's creation] - "when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy."
All creation praises God. If this passage is a symbolic reference to actual stars, then it is just another example of this, described in a poetic fashion. The emphasis here is not on the exact timing of specific entities of creation. (Stars were created on Day 4 of Creation.)

Psalm 65:5-13

Psa 65:12-13 The wilderness grasslands ... The hills ... The pastures ... The valleys ... They shout for joy! They also sing.

Psalm 67:1-7

Praising God comes naturally to nature, each creature honoring God by doing what it created it to do (other than the ways that the effects of sin in the world have complicated matters, Genesis 3:17-19 and Romans 8:22). But people were created in the image of God; and one aspect of being an "image bearer" is the ability to make the choice to praise God.

Psalm 89:11-12

Tabor and Hermon rejoice in your name. These were two mountains in Israel. They are described as rejoicing in God - something that all creation does, each entity in its own way.

Psalm 104:1-35

How should we respond to the greatness and goodness of God, and the greatness and goodness of his creation? We, too, can rejoice. But we should also respond with reverent fear, awe and humility. Even creation responds in a way that is analogous to this, as illustrated in these verses. (Psa 104:32 He looks at the earth, and it trembles. He touches the mountains, and they smoke.)

Psalm 148:1-14

The command to praise God, applied to all aspects of creation, both in the heavens and on the earth/sea.
All creation is to praise God, each entity in the way it was created to do so. For many aspects of creation, it happens by nature, when the entity simply functions the way it was made to function. For humans, it is a matter of the conscious will.
Praising God is a moral issue. Since humans bear the Image of God, it must be a choice, rather than an involuntary, unconscious act. This is the way humans were created to function; and to not praise God from the heart is to sin.
