Scripture Passage | Comments and Links |
2Ch 7:1 Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; ... | Fire from heaven |
... and the glory of Yahweh filled the house.
2Ch 7:2 The priests could not enter into the house of Yahweh, because the glory of Yahweh filled Yahweh's house. |
The smoke of God's glory. |
2Ch 7:3 All the children of Israel looked on, when the fire came down, and the glory of Yahweh was on the house; and they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground on the pavement, and worshiped, and gave thanks to Yahweh, saying, For he is good; for his loving kindness endures for ever. | The people's response. |
- The verses that follow describe the sacrifices that Solomon and the people offered to God. See: 2 Chronicles 7:4-7. The sacrifices would have been consumed by this fire that came down from God, rather than by a fire that was started by people!
